Week 31

How far along: 31 weeks, 5 days

Size of Baby S: 16 inches, 3.3 lbs

Fruit/vegetable comparison (according to Baby Center): Four navel oranges

Total weight gain: Total: 19 lbs (I'm only supposed to gain 25 lbs total...)

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this week's numbers since I gained like 3 lbs. Madison either had a huge growth spurt, my unhealthy Houston eating is just now taking affect (and/or the American junk food - lots of candy and cereal we've been eating all week... hello Fruity Pebbles!), or I'm bloated and not drinking enough water. I'm hoping for the first one, but we'll see. :-/

Sleep: Good. We now sleep with just a down comforter cover (basically just a sheet) because we were both getting super hot. Also, Zoey did wake us up a couple of times this week playing with her toys. We laughed that she's just preparing us for Madison!

Movement: Lots. The midwife told me to make sure I feel her everyday and to call if I don't. She was also particularly active this week during a couple of business meetings making it very distracting to pay attention when my stomach is moving noticeably!

Unglamorous body changes: I noticed... eeek... four stretch marks. There are two faint stretch mark lines on both sides of my hips. I'm open to suggestions of creams/lotions to start using to minimize them and hopefully more don't appear!

I've also noticed that I'm getting more tired. Fortunately I have an amazing husband who hasn't missed a beat and has lent a helping hand to finish making dinner, doing the dishes, changing a load of laundry, etc. and telling me to sit down and rest. I'm so blessed to have him!

Maternity Clothes? Yes.

Showing: Yes.

Food cravings: Nope.

What I miss: Amaretto sour. Perhaps I should put the bottle we got at Duty Free on our way home in the cupboard and not on the counter...

Anything making you queasy: The childbirth stories (and a couple pictures) in the book I started reading. I kid, I kid. Sort of. ;-)

Strange experiences: I attempted to take a relaxing bubble bath this past week since I was tired at the end of the work day and was having some Braxton Hicks contractions. The tub was about halfway full when my irritating darling husband walked in with the meat thermometer in his hand to check the water temperature. I was given a scolding as he turned the water down to cold to compensate for the few degrees above body temperature that the water was...so much for that "relaxing" idea. :-/

Oh and this week at work I accidentally printed soft porn. How does one do this you may ask? Jason and I are taking a birth course in a couple of weekends and they emailed out the material for us to read through ahead of time. I printed the document (double-sided of course to conserve paper) and when I went to retrieve it from the copy machine was aghast to see fetal position diagrams of the full torso facing up on the copy machine output. It might not have been so bad except that there was someone using the copy machine and there had been a few minutes between when I hit print and went to retrieve it. If I find myself suddently unemployed I will have no doubts as to why...

Milestones: Madison can turn her head from side to side and she's beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath her skin (see perhaps that is the obscene weight increase this week! ;-) ). It also says she might be moving a lot and disrupting your sleep. She's definitely moving a ton now, but fortunately I'm a pretty sound sleeper and she hasn't woken me up or kept me up with her movements (and fingers crossed it stays that way!)

Best moment this week: We had our Week 31 appointment with the midwife and she said everything is looking good. I won't see her again for three weeks since the pregnancy is going so smoothly. Madison is still measuring perfectly on the curve and we have no reasons to be concerned about her size.

We also got some other amazing news this week... Jason is going to be able to take off two full weeks after Madison's arrival!! I am so excited that he will have this opportunity to bond with her and spend time with her right after she's born. (I am also slightly hoping it means I will not be quite as zombie-like from lack of sleep... or maybe we both end up being incredibly zombie-like...) Anyway, we are both praising the Lord for this incredible news!

Looking forward to: Setting up the nursery with our air shipment that arrives Monday at 2:00 pm!! Jason has promised to assemble the glider and the crib before he goes out of town next weekend so that I can work hard on getting her nursery ready. :-)
