Week 39
Ahhhh! We're having a baby soon! ;-) |
How far along: 39 weeks, 5 days
Size of Baby S: 20 in, just over 7 lbs
Fruit/vegetable comparison (according to Baby Center): mini watermelon
Total weight gain: 30 lbs. Although I did realize this week that I am counting from the beginning of the second trimester after I'd lost 8 lbs... so can I count from when I first took the pregnancy test and say 22?! Because that would make me feel better since I've already gained more than was recommended!
Sleep: Great still. I wake up once, sometimes twice, to go to the bathroom. Last night I made it from 10:30 until 5 this morning. Plus I am still able to fall right back asleep afterwards. CeCe has even realized this is a new habit and she no longer comes and tries to snuggle with me during these bathroom breaks (she's usually asleep on the heated bathroom floor)
Movement: She's still squirming around in there! Sometimes I feel a foot in the side or watch her glider her entire body from left to right. Earlier this week she most definitely stuck her bum straight out making my stomach incredibly lopsided and sending both Jason and I into a fit of laughter. :-)
Unglamorous body changes: Nothing really to complain about. I haven't really swelled anymore (that's noticeable at least). I thought the right half of my face looked really swollen the other day (but not the left side) and Jason told me I was crazy.
Maternity Clothes? Yep. But wondering how many more times this weekly outfit will make it's appearance....and how much longer before I can't cover my protruding belly by pulling the top down right before the picture!
Showing: Of course. :-)
Food cravings: Well... I made Jason take me back to the American store this week for some more chewy nerds. They are so delicious!! And my friend Shaina had her birthday this week and I made a cake for her (boxed American cake and betty crocker icing). It was a glorious junk food fix. :-)
What I miss: Working out comes to mind again since there's a big bike race today that I would love to be doing and am excited to do next year! Hehe.
Anything making you queasy: I started feeling a little light-headed this morning because I think I waited too long to eat something. After I sat down for a bit and had breakfast I felt much better. Not sure if that counts or not, but I'll include it anyway.
Strange experiences: Here was a conversation earlier this week where I accidentally caused my husband to panic...
Me: You know how you get that feeling like something is about to happen? You can just kind of tell?Jason: Um... Yeah...
Me: I don't have that feeling at all. I feel the exact same as I always do.
Milestones: Madi is still gaining more fat so that she'll be able to regulate her body temperature. She can probably flex her limbs at this point (I can vouch for sure she's got her kicking flexing down, hehe).
Best moment this week: We had our 39 week appt with the midwife and I did my second round of acupuncture. Still somewhat indifferent about it, but hey, it can't hurt, right? This Tuesday I have my next appt and we will do my final round of acupuncture as well as check to see if I am dilated at all.
Wednesday Jason and I made a picnic dinner and walked to the lake near our house. We had fun sitting quietly by the water eating our sandwiches and feeding the ducks. We almost got attacked by a swan, but besides that it was a fantastic evening. I'm excited to walk Madi around that lake after she arrives.
We had our last Norwegian class this week and went out afterwards as a group bowling. I was surprised at how normal it felt to go bowling! And Jason tested out his baby bump with a 7 lb ball. I think I earned some sympathy from him thinking about carrying all that extra weight around... :-)
I took Friday off and pampered myself with a Mom-to-Be treatment at a spa nearby. It was amazing and relaxing and I loved it! Great view too of the beach!
Looking forward to: My appt on Tuesday and of course meeting Madi someday soon! Don't forget to vote above on when you think she'll arrive and how big she'll be! :-)
