Week 40

Happy due date Madi! Why do I have a feeling you plan to ignore it...? ;-)

How far along: 40 weeks, 4 days

Size of Baby S: Hard to say, but average weight is around 7.5 lbs and 20 inches. Here in Norway the average weight is closer to 3.7 kilo (3700 grams) or ~8.15 lbs. I am hoping for an American-sized baby. :-)

Fruit/vegetable comparison (according to Baby Center): Small pumpkin. It's not intimidating at all to think about birthing a pumpkin...

Total weight gain: 30 or 22 lbs depending on your baseline.

Sleep: Really good still.

Movement: Lots still! She's running out of space and ready to come out! Right Madi? Maybe? Pretty please?

Unglamorous body changes: Well, nothing else has changed much, but I did have to get Jason help me put on a pair of sandals. I couldn't bend over far enough to adjust the heel strap. Sigh.

Maternity Clothes? Yes. And hopefully sporting my weekly picture outfit for the last time!!

Showing: Yes!

Food cravings: Nothing really.

What I miss: My mobility. I am starting to feel heavier and despite being able to walk faster now that Madi has dropped some, I am still missing my usual mobility. I do have to say though that I am appreciating my body SO much more than I ever did. I mean, two marathons and MS 150's should have made me love it, but the way it's handled this whole pregnancy thing has made me really respect it even more. Although we still have conflicting opinions about the size my ba-donk-a-donk should be...

Anything making you queasy: Nope.

Strange experiences: Scaring everyone in the office this week by telling them my due date's Friday (today). Even my boss said "Only two more days" and I responded "Yes, I am crossing my fingers that I won't be here on Monday." I think he had a minor heart attack as he very surprisingly and cautiously asked me "Um, Monday, why, why would you be here on Monday...?" Oh, the American "maternity" system. We work up until we go into labor.

Milestones: Fortunately her skull bones aren't fused yet which make her journey through the birth canal easier on both of us. Besides that she's fully developed and just gainin weight, shedding vernix, and keeping her expectant parents in the dark about when she'll make her appearance.

Best moment this week: Spending the evenings relaxing with Jason. We go for walks around Lake Mosvatnet and feeding the ducks, playing cards, and reading books. It's a nice calm before the Madi storm. :-)

Looking forward to: Holding, kissing, smelling, and touching our sweet baby girl soon!

Thoughts: I posted some confessions about what I'm thinking/feeling earlier this week. Jason and I talked about them as well as some of his confessions (sorry peeps, couldn't get him to agree to a guest blog post sharing his list). We are both so excited and anxious to meet Madi and see what she's like! We're also praying continually that she comes naturally and we can avoid the whole induction discussion altogether!
