Abu Nakhla

We needed some green and had been recommended to visit Abu Nakhla - a sewage pond not far outside the city. Yes, you read that right - sewage pond. When you live in the desert you take whatever you can get. 🤣

We went together as a family and then a few weeks later I got a chance to go again and walk the entire things with friends. It's probably about 5 miles (10 km) around. We definitely plan to visit again and explore different parts.

When we arrived there was a flock of flamingos that took off flying - so amazing!

We didn't make it too far with the girls, but now that we have a better idea of the layout and what to expect we will go with backpacks and snacks.

The next visit I went later in the afternoon and got to watch a beautiful sunset as we made our way around the pond. We even saw some foxes as it got to be dusk.

It's not your run-of-the-mill adventure, but we love any chance to see a but of greenery and explore! We will definitely be visiting here again once the weather cools down.
